FURTHER Landscapes: East of England

The second event of the FURTHER series takes riders to the open, windswept landscapes of East Anglia. A region of rolling hills, farm fields, and endless skies, it offers a different kind of wild, shaped by doubletrack lanes, bridleways, and forgotten byways.

Inspired by the “golden age” of British cycling during the interwar years, Equinox celebrates the spirit of riders exploring this land in the 1920s and 30s. Amid mass worker revolts nearly a century ago, many sought adventure in the countryside, embracing camping and touring. With the bicycle as their key to freedom, huts built by London cycling clubs offered stepping stones into the outdoors. Riders would journey from the city, camp overnight, and test themselves in secret dawn time trials—a lost weekend of freedom and challenge.

Equinox carries this tradition forward. Riders arrive at HQ the night before—no parking, just tents and a bonfire—and set off at dawn in minute intervals, solo against the route, with no drafting allowed.

Though the classic British terrain may look gentle, its openness demands focus, patience, and resilience, giving every rider the chance to experience the countryside as it has been ridden for nearly a century.

Beginning Sept. 26th, see how the race unfolds through the dotwatching link below.
