I love how hard wearing,
I love how hard wearing, light and waterproof these shorts are. The quality is excellent. The fit however kind of ruins them for me. I fall between medium and large with hips at 40”and thigh at 25”but I am 5’8”tall and have a 30”inseam.
I originally bought the medium but a test ride on the road immediately told me they were too small. I thought I could make the large work, they look like capris but I don’t care as long as I’m dry. The opening in the leg snags my pump and the damper on my shock. My knee pads also bind inside the legs of the shorts. Unfortunately I’m going to have to get rid of them. I wish they had wider and shorter options but to be fair I wouldn’t say I am average build.

When I first heard of
When I first heard of waterproof shorts I was skeptical. However, I bought a pair about 5 years ago for an off-road stage-race for which rain was forecast. Since then I would consider waterproof shorts an essential part of my cycling gear; I’ve even used them on road rides to prevent that gritty, soggy-nappy feeling. My old Vaude shorts were starting to delaminate and so I thought I’d treat myself to a pair of 7Mesh Revo shorts since I’m planning a few races which are likely to have inclement weather! After some helpful discussion with the 7Mesh team I decided to go for size Small – I am 1m80, about 72kg, with 31/32” waist and 32” inseam. The shorts are a perfect on-the-bike-fit they extend beyond the knee on the front, but a scalloped to prevent rubbing on the back of the knee, this helps reduce spray going up your leg they are very comfortable to pedal in. The build quality is second-to-none. So far I’ve only had one ride that warranted wearing them – sleety rain, wind, plenty of mud, quite horrible conditions really! But the shorts, with just a pair of road bib-shorts underneath were perfect. Legs stayed warm and dry; pedaling was comfortable; crutch is well cut and not baggy, so no problems with the shorts getting snagged on the saddle on steep section. So bottom line: great build, great cut, keep you dry, comfortable to pedal in; very impressed!
