Men's Ashlu Merino Base Layer Sleeveless

The short sleeve Ashlu jersey is one of our most popular styles, so when we started thinking about making a lightweight long sleeve for road and fast gravel riding, it made perfect sense to adapt this proven all-terrain performer.  

The Ashlu Long Sleeve inherits the great fit and feature set from its shorter length stablemate but adds articulated full sleeves. A fabric blend of merino wool and nylon helps Ashlu deliver the thermoregulation and antibacterial properties that make this natural fibre so popular, with the strength and durability of a non-wool jersey.  A full-front zipper handles closing duties to the front, while to the rear, five generous ‘Anything’ pockets provide plenty of space for snacks and supplies.

Men's Ashlu Merino Jersey LS -  Men's Long Sleeve Merino-blend Road Bike Jersey | 7mesh

Designed to sit slightly off the body, Trim Fit products provide some room for light layering and feature mechanical (fabric) stretch or elastane, combined with articulated patterns.

Trim Fit

A great thin wool jersey. Its fits well (size large, 70”, 200#). The rear pocket works well as advertised, and the bottle blue is an outstanding hue. Definitely nitpicking, but adding the reflective zigzags to the rear pocket and perhaps an extra inch of length in front would be good.

Great!

I tried this jersey for the first time just in the last two days: today for bike to work (27 km with a temperature range 8-12°C) and yesterday for a 60 km ride with a lot of steep climbing (minimum temperature around 10°C). I paired it with the Chilco vest (opening it up entirely during the climbs) and a tank top.
The jersey felt pretty good all the time, never feeling too hot and, most importantly, never having the unpleasant wet jersey feeling that often happens with other similar products. So I'd say great!
Also, the fit is snug and comfortable, giving maximum freedom of movement.
The only criticism concerns the zipper: too small for my taste, you struggle to insert it "on the fly" if you want to close it.
This aspect affects all 7 Mesh products purchased so far, and so...
7 Mesh, change this zipper and I'll give you 5 stars! :-)

Comfortable and efficient

I bought the Ashlu Merino Jersey based on a recommendation from a friend earlier in the year. This jersey has hands down been my favourite cool weather riding jersey. It is great on its own or when the temperature dips a bit, to add in a base layer or a vest overtop. I love how it is breathable and if the temps do go up, by unzipping it a bit, it helps cool me right down. 

The two pockets on the back are awesome and I like their size. They are big enough that when wearing full-fingered gloves I can easily get stuff out of my pockets. 

The sizing fits like a medium and I like how the cuffs are close to the wrist but not soo constricting like other long-sleeve jerseys. It has been an awesome jersey!

Favourite Fall Riding Jersey

Last weekend's ride started at 58 deg F and ended at 70 deg F, and the Ashlu was perfect throughout--warm enough and cool enough. I have ape-like arms, so really appreciate the generously long sleeves, which are easy enough to push up as the sun get hotter. Looking forward to testgin as a winter base layer, since nothing beats merino next to your skin.

The ashlu is lightweight, airy and breathable providing just the right insulation and coverage for cool mornings, spring and fall riding. Still comfortable as the temps rise during the day. Now my arm warmers can stay bunched up in ball in my drawer where they below. I don't really like faffing around with tight arm warmers and a long sleeve provides a sleeker look IMO. Same lightweight and soft merino as the Ashlu SS so you get all the benefits of a high merino content jersey - breathable, anti-stink, soft, microbial etc., but in a long sleeve format. I pair this with a light gilet on colder days. It hasn't been cold enough, but i'll like layer this under a jacket or a windproof jersey as a quasi-base layer come winter.
