Men's Guardian Apex Jacket - Full-Feature GORE-TEX ePE Alpine Shell

Start by referencing the size chart. Each size is designed to accommodate a range of measurements. Identify where your own measurements fall within that range.

If your measurements fall below the midrange of a particular size, you have two options:

Stick with your true size for extra room to layer.

Size down for a more tailored, close-to-body fit.

If your measurements are slightly above the midrange of a size:

Choose your true size for a standard or slightly snug fit.

Size up for added room and layering flexibility.

Keep in mind that while each size is thoughtfully designed, how a style fits will always depend on your individual shape. A medium is always a medium, but the drape and feel may vary from person to person.

Short Term Review. So far I’ve taken it split boarding and Mountain Biking in a torrential rain storm at night. 

Really like the fit of the jacket, it isn’t too slim or loose. Did well splitboarding and biking. In a few hour ride on the north shore in cold absolute downpour conditions it did not allow any water through it and did actually breath fairly well on the steep uphill. I Like the wrist closure style and the packability is great. Not a very loud fabric. I have a brand new Arc’teryx Beta SL with the same GORE-TEX Epe and this one is much quieter from new, also the fit is much better on this jacket. Pockets are great, dual zipper on the main front zipper is super useful biking. Hood is good over the helmet, a hair on the tight side but I prefer this for a better fit without the helmet also.

Only downsides I see to this jacket are that the logos are printed on, this seems to be well done but I would much prefer embroidered for longevity.

The vents are also on the mid front instead of the armpits like most jackets. I may actually prefer this style as they are much easier to reach for and when on a bike or board they almost scoop the air in. The downside is that I find them much too small. Compared to the beta these are almost a third of the length. The style is more effective but I still think they need to be much longer as they didn’t release as much heat as I’d need in a heavy down pour while working hard for a long time at a slow speed. Goretex doesn’t breathe well when it wets out and that’s why they’re needed. 

So far best jacket I’ve owned and I’d take it over the Beta SL any day for fit, noise and features. Price wise if the cost could be brought down to Beta SL then this would be a clear winner. I do feel the price is too high for what it is but it is the best jacket I’ve owned so it means a premium.

Great Jacket.

As a Scottish outdoor fanatic, who’s spent several miserable winters out in the elements, I can safely say I know a good jacket when I see/use one. The apex jacket ticks every box for me. Every feature is well thought out, super reliable and robust, the sizing is accurate (I’m 182cm and wear a Medium). I’ve worn the 7mesh “skypilot” jacket for the last 3 season and at first when swapping to this I felt it definitely allowed for some extra room in the chest and sleeves for better layering. You can easily cinch the cuffs with the Velcro straps and the zips are great with lovely rubberised pulls (it’s the little details like this, paired with the overall construction that make this
 piece worth every penny)
