Stash System

Every layer in the Stash System packs into its own pocket and straps to your bike, your pack or your belt. No stuff sack to lose, and no pack to carry just to bring a shell.

How it works

Three steps, and the last one is riding.

1. Stash

Turn the garment into its own zippered pocket and compress it down.

2. Clip or stuff

Use the built-in strap to attach the bundle to your bike, or drop it in your pack.

3. Go

The layer travels with you instead of on you.

The strap, the pocket, and thirty seconds of how it actually goes on a bike.

The pocket is still a pocket

Nothing is bolted on to make this work. The stash pocket is a functioning pocket when you're wearing the layer and a stuff sack when you're not. On the Guardian Air Jacket it's the deep internal dump pocket, sized to take a phone, a multi-tool or a pair of gloves while you ride.

Why it's built this way

Shoulder season is the problem this solves. Conditions change faster than you can plan for, so you either overdress, carry a pack you don't want, or stretch a jersey pocket out of shape. A layer that stows to its own size and rides on the bike removes the decision.

Common questions

Does every 7mesh jacket stash into its own pocket?

No. Only the layers listed above carry the Stash System pocket and strap. Plenty of our other shells pack down small, but they don't have the integrated strap.

What can I attach it to?

Your bike, your pack or your belt. The strap is built into the garment, so there's nothing to buy and nothing to lose.

Does packing it into the pocket damage the fabric?

No. These fabrics are made to be compressed and released repeatedly. Store the garment loose and dry between rides rather than stashed long-term, the same as any technical shell.

Can I still use the pocket while I'm wearing it?

Yes. It's a working pocket first. The stash function only comes into play when the layer comes off.

How do I wash a Stash System layer?

Unpack it fully first, then follow the care instructions for that fabric. For the GORE-TEX pieces, see our GORE-TEX Product Care guide.

Is the Stash System only for cycling?

No. The strap is designed around a bike, but these are layers for riding, hiking, running and ski touring. If you're carrying a pack, the bundle goes in it just as easily.
