Give it a chance

I typically don't love how 7mesh shorts fit my body type - I'm small hips/bum and straight in the middle. Shorts tend to fit tight at the waist. I have the foundation bib which has been good. These shorts were such a good deal I bought a size up to accommodate the smaller waist. If you can get passed the initial awkward feeling that they are too low in the back and that the waist bad pressed into the soft spots on your waist/hips. . . . they actually fit well below the waist band of your over short and do not compete which I do like :) I hate having 2 overlapping waist bands. The low rider-ness of these is actually a good thing!

My Go-to bikepacking liners

For bikepacking I prefer separate liners and an outer layer to cargo shorts as its more versatile if you're away for multiple days. I can wear shorts or non-cycling unpadded leggings over. At 5' 2" I'm not tall. I'm especially short in the rise, so I really appreciate liners that do not end up half way up my ribs. Having said that, I do have "cyclists-size" glutes and could have done with a little higher waist at the back. Its the first time I've ever said that about cycling shorts! But I find them very acceptable once I'd got used to the idea that they will not fall down. I like the mesh construction which is cool under the Farside shorts, and dries quickly overnight when washed on tour. So far no signs of fragility. Personally I like the smaller chamois which covers well without leaving me looking like I'm wearing a nappy at the back. I do have wide seatbones and it seems to be fine. 51 kgs naked, I bought S and although tight at first, I think they are relaxing a bit around the (curvy) thighs, although not so much in the rear rise. Would buy again.

Light weight for sure, but uncomfortable chamois

I love the concept so I bought these for mountain biking. Very light weight - but the seams seem vulnerable: If I pull the shorts on too fast it would break stitches. They are very low rise. They feel like they are falling down, but they're not. Chamois was not comfortable on the first ride. It felt rough. I've never had this happen before. Maybe it will soften up with some use / washes. I'm 5'7" / 140 lbs and ordered a size M. It's the right fit. It's just a little too low rise for me.
