Skypilot is a flawless wind and waterproof bike jacket built for every adventure. From local trails to long trips into the backcountry, Skypilot’s soft and silent GORE-TEX® Active 3L fabric breathes and protects like a second skin, keeping your temperature in check even under hard efforts.  

We patterned Skypilot for a relaxed fit that layers well with other items, but at just 250g, it packs down into a small pack or bikepacking bag with ease. At the front, a smooth-running front zip handles closure duties, while to the rear, a dropped hem keeps water at bay, aided by a roomy hood built to extend over a helmet and cinch for a custom fit. Well-placed, dual front hand pockets complete the jacket.

Men's Skypilot Jacket  - Men's Waterproof MTB & Gravel Bike Jacket

Relaxed Fit

I have had this jacket for a year now and am very pleased with the light weight and design. This jacket has a large hood that fits over a helmet which some complain about for biking but is super when in the mountains and need wind and rain protection with a climbing helmet. I have used it on a week long bike trip in the summer too and it has kept me dry as expected. The zippers are easy to use with gloves and has proven to be plenty durable when subjected to normal use on the bike and in the alpine. I am 5'11", 170lbs and 39" chest and I find the Medium fits me best with room for an insulating layer and no constriction. I opted for the 3 layer Gore-tex of this jacket over the 2. 5 layer Co-pilot for better breathability and durability. 5 stars for the Skypilot especially for its multisport chops!

Good jacket for mountaineering too

well you have heard about this impossible combo before, and probably have more than one jacket in your wardrobe that did not meet the hype. well the skypilot does. nearly as perfect as the sadly no longer available resistance jacket. whao. so why only four stars for the skypilot? well for one a hood has for me really no place on a bicycle jacket. it is a great windcatcher more than anything else. and the fabric is on the stiff side, might however soften with time? so room for a little improvement. but is your urge here and now a breathable still waterproof jacket? look no further. if you look in-house 7mesh you might be tempted by their cashe jacket as an alternative. well so it is, for sedate activities. breathability is clearly better on the skypilot.

Fits my 6'4", 220lbs frame. I have long arms too and this jacket is perfect. 
The zipper is very difficult to slide, probably a consequence of its waterproofness. The only real concern I have is that the hood is not packable. It's a large hood to fit over, rather than under, your helmet and when you don't need it it just flaps around in the wind. It really does need some sort of tie down when you don't want to wear the hood.

Fits Great

At 6ft and 80kg, I was unsure what size to buy. Tried on both Small and Medium at Tweed Valley Bikes. As I wanted to use the jacket mainly for bikepacking I needed enough room to get a down jacket under it. Went for medium and Iam happy.

Pea soup was on the menu, for hours! As I was half way round the loop before the weather set in, I was already warm and sweaty. Read somewhere that it’s best to cinch up a GoreTex jacket rather than keep it open, and let the material breath. So that’s what I did. Needless to say that method worked. Wasn’t too hot, wasn’t too cold- just ambient. Making sure you wear correct layers is key.

I’ve had previous jackets that when you put on, you get instant warmth. Great if your standing around coaching, but when the action starts you get way too warm and more often than not- that type of jacket is too bulky to carry over multi-day events in the first place. 

I compared both the Co and Sky next to each other, there’s a bit of a weight saving with the Co, but when I scrunched them both up, I couldn’t see any noticeable space saving advantage. Especially once tucked into a frame bag.

The hoods ace too, fits neatly over my Smith Forefront helmet, with no visual impairment. 

only time will tell if I get two solid seasons out of it, but you can tell it’s well made, light, and 7mesh have a fantastic customer service. The only thing I need to consider is do I need the Co-pilot too…. Probably yes as I love their Elk colour scheme 😍

Survived all that Scotland’s Sky through at it!

10/10 on all aspects. Personally, my favourite outer layer from 7mesh that I've worn. First of all, the weatherproofing on this is the best out of any jacket i've ever used. The fit is true to size with a big enough hood to cover a helmet. The multiple panels used to make this jacket fit so well are all backed up by the best taping on the inside I've ever experienced from a product like this. The main zip is robust and has never failed on me like other jackets in this price range have done in the past and the pockets are equally solid and reliable. No downsides to this at all in my opinion.

An essential winter jacket for any outdoor lover

After riding through several Gore and non-Gore rain jackets over the last decade, it feels like i've found the optimum. Because I am 6ft5 with long arms and broad shoulders but no big belly (not yet at least) most of the other jackets have either too short sleeves or a waist too wide . The Skypilot in size large fits perfect, on my Enduro as well as on my XC bike. 
As a family man and entrepreneur I have to use every available time slot to ride my bike, even when this means foul weather conditions. That's why I have already used the Skypilot in 2h of heavy rain as well as an outer layer in mixed conditions over the last 2 months. The breathabilty is next level and every time I came home with a dry and warm torso. 
You can pack the Skypilot really small, like the size of a beverage can, so carrying it with you as a backup is no problem. 
I went for the peat color option, which looks great and does not make you look like a biker at first glance. 
And finally the Skypilot is one more proof that sometimes you can save money by going for the more expensive option from the beginning, because otherwise you have bought several cheaper options without being satisfied and end up buying the allegedly expensive one anyway.

Fit, function, feel and look at its best

Bought this jacket after a number of failed attempts at trying other brands. Purpose was for foul weather days on my mountain bike here on the East Coast of Canada during shoulder season - and as an outer layer for fat biking during the winter months layered over a insulated jacket. Bought size small - fits perfect. One of the better fitting MTB jackets I've tried and I've tried a few. I'm 5'8", 155 lbs. Sits right at the hips and enough room for the layering piece mentioned above, while still slim enough to wear by itself and not look like I'm wearing something oversized. Have worn it a lot in the last month and half in foul weather - water proofing is excellent so far. The large hood is a welcome addition. Cuffs are elastic and keep the cold/wet out nicely on the sleeves. Breaths really well. One suggestion for 7Mesh for the next iteration - instead of strings for the zipper pull tabs that aren't attached (the strings that come with it are just tied in a knot as the pull) - affix a more permanent pull. My first 7Mesh piece I've ever purchase, definitely not my last.

Great Fitting Foul Weather Jacket for MTB

I bought this jacket after realizing that both my soft-shell windbreaker and rain jacket were aging, with stuck zippers, rips, etc. This is an expensive jacket, and I justified buying it as a replacement for two jackets. 

So far, I have not been disappointed. I have worn it every day over the last couple weeks, in temperatures between 30 and 60 F, with different jerseys beneath, depending on the temperature, on rain days and dry ones, over the course of 300 miles or so. 

The jacket is light and packs small. It's not as crinkly as many hardshell jackets, and I was happy wearing it against my skin with a short sleeve jersey. It performs well in the rain, and when the rain is falling, the hood is amazing. When it isn't, it's a bit annoying, but can be tucked beneath the back with a bit of care, and is barely noticeable there. 

With the right amount of clothing underneath, the moisture transfer properties of the material are amazing. I found that if I was feeling comfortably warm, all the sweat from my skin was able to pass through the jacket and out, though not all my jerseys were quite so cooperative. When I was overdressed beneath, things did get wet, but dried down pretty quickly when I reduced my effort. I never found myself pulling a saturated jacket off when I got home, and hoping that it would dry off before the next ride. Sure, there were drops of water on the exterior after the rain, but the fabric itself didn't seem to absorb any of it. 

I haven't had the jacket for long enough to speak to the durability, or to the performance in a wider range of temperatures. Maybe I'll update at some point down the line. But from what I've experienced so far, and the reviews I have read, I am very impressed, and I'll be looking at more products from 7Mesh.

Very impressive

Ordered this to serve as both a riding shell in wet conditions and around town. Nice and light, quality fabric feels nice against the skin and is fantastically waterproof. I sized up (5'10", 170 lbs, I usually wear Medium) to provide space for layering and around town use, and it fits great except the long sleeves, which is to be expected. Probably a bit too warm to wear if its above 10 C unless its pouring but I'll take that.

Quality shell

Received this as a birthday present early in the year. Great fit and very comfortable. Much better coverage than my previous jacket. Appears to breathe well and very effective in heavy rain. Hood can blow around a little. Would definitely recommend. The only caveat to this is that in the UK, it was £300 and has shot up to £400. This seems a particularly large price hike.
